Maybank—CyberSecurity Malaysia Internet security awareness

Maybank is running a public awareness campaign to educate people on online security generally, and internet banking safety specifically, in collaboration with CyberSecurity Malaysia, a non-profit organization under the purview of Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).

We have exchanged a Memorandum of Strategic Alliance with CyberSecurity Malaysia on 30 November 2007, witnessed by our Prime Minister, YAB Dato' Seri Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi, and the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), YB Dato' Sri Dr. Jamaludin Dato' Mohd Jarjis. This memorandum spearheads an internet banking safety programme aimed at educating and promoting internet banking safety. Under the terms and scope of this strategic alliance, the programme will include, jointly developing educational and internet banking safety promotional collaterals, conducting awareness programmes, and providing distribution and internet banking safety awareness channels directed at Maybank's customers and internet banking users in Malaysia.

We are very privileged to work with CyberSecurity Malaysia, an agency under MOSTI, which acts as the one stop co-ordination centre for all national cyber security initiatives. With the Malaysia Computer Emergency Team or MyCERT also under their charge, CyberSecurity presents the ideal partner for us to achieve our objective. This is further emphasized by CyberSecurity's role as the trusted reference and specialist centre to support both the active and proactive measures in ICT security with the aim of educating the general public about online security threats and counter measures to protect their machines from being compromised by malicious attacks. They also aim to strengthen Malaysian self reliance in terms of technology and human resources as well as nurture a culture of cyber security amongst users and critical sectors to reduce the vulnerability of ICT systems and networks.

We believe and hope that Maybank, together with CyberSecurity, would be able to make the Internet, a safer place.

The public awareness campaign will cover various media channels such as radio, newspapers, online as well as our network of branches.

We are also introducing a dedicated phishing report page so that customers will be able to alert us to any Maybank2u.com phishing site.
